Onesis Donated by Potomac Region
by Bernice J. Oden, District Chair, Young Children Priority One
Onesis x 560 = 560 Onesis: that's how many onesis the Potomac Region donated to the Washington, D.C. Children's Hospital. The project was to collect the baby clothing for Washington, D.C. Children's Hospital. There are so many babies that spend a great deal of time at this hospital, and the onesis baby clothing is a great help to the hospital for the constant clothing changes that are necessary for the infants.
A call was made to the Kiwanis Clubs in the Potomac Region (Div. 1, 17 and 22). You responded with a 70% club participation in this project. Governor Tom Ganes from the Capital District personally brought his onesis to the convention. Even in this economy, clubs found in their hearts to go the extra mile to donate for this cause. In the Capital District we have 7 Pediatric Trauma Centers with various needs. As your District Chair, I would like for clubs to check the needs of the children hospitals in their area and develop a project plan that would help address some of the needs. I would like to thank the Potomac Region for their extraordinary service for this endeavor, and for their participation in our service project during the Capital District Convention that was held in Dover, Delaware.
