Kiwanis Club of Staunton Holds Induction & Awards Dinner
by Michael Roman, Publicity Chrm., Kiwanis Club of Staunton, VA
On Monday, October 4th, the members of the Staunton Club held their induction of new officers and awards banquet. The event was attended by approximately one hundred people, and included Interclubs from Buena Vista, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Waynesboro and Shenandoah Valley. Lt. Governor Herb Ely presided over the recognition of the 2009-2010 Officers and Board, and the induction of the new Officers (President Priscilla Stanley, President Elect Alan Biskey, Vice President Prewitt Scripps, and Secretary Lucinda Cooke) and three new board members. PLG David Didawick presented the Legion of Honor Award to Malcolm H. Livick who, after twenty-two years of dedicated service as Club Secretary, stepped down.

The lead-in was a 'good humored' roast by Dan Bonner. When questioned after the event, Mal admitted that he suspected that something was in the works - because his son and daughter were in attendance - but truly he had no idea what that was. After presenting the Ambassador Level Hixson Award to Mal, his wife Linda, who was in on planning the surprise award for Mal, was asked to come forward to be presented with her very own Diamond Level Hixson Award. This truly caught her by surprise. The evening concluded with great fellowship and camaraderie.
