Letter from IRHS Key Club Member Emily Bergman to Rehoboth Kiwanis Club
Thank you for helping me get to Key Leader and having the best time of my life. This year, at the 2009 Key Leader, I was a student facilitator. I decided to become a student facilitator because last year my student facilitators, Chris and Sami, made my experience. They helped me grow out of my shell and made my first Key Leader one I will always remember. This year I was able to grow even further than last year. I met many people who I will always keep contact with. I learned to trust people and I learned that I could lead people to do well and to do service leadership. Although I was nervous, I was able to overcome that with the help of my friend Chris and the friendliness of my neighborhood (the group of Key Leaders I was facilitating). We learned a lot about each other in this process; we learned to trust one another and listen to each other. We also learned these two things on the ropes course. It was dangerous and we had to trust the rest of our group to keep us from falling. Each time our head facilitator, Dennis, told us to find someone that we have not met to do an activity with, everyone was always open and receptive. This allowed not only me but also everyone else in this year's Key Leader event a chance to build their self-confidence. Although the goodbyes were the worst, I am ready and able to go out into the world and be a Key Leader.
